Traditional cancer care is often designed for children or older adults. The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Program at MD Anderson is designed specifically for the “in-between” years (ages 15 to 39) to address the unique medical and social challenges of this life stage.

In Plain English: This is your “home base” for non-medical hurdles. While your oncologists treat the cancer, the AYA team treats the person living with it.

The Team: You have access to a specialized team including AYA navigators, social workers, and vocational specialists who understand how a diagnosis impacts your independence and future plans.

Support Services: They provide everything from specialized support groups to workshops on managing the transition from pediatric to adult care.
